What's changed.

Elephouse grows in small, quiet steps — and we honestly write down here what has changed. No marketing language, no hidden notes. Just what you actually notice when you open the app.

June 2026 Current

Shared lists

  • New Shared lists. Create more than one list and share it with others. Invite people by email. Existing users get a pending invitation right in the app, new ones receive an email to sign up and join straight away.
  • New Move tasks between lists. Send a task to another of your lists directly while editing it.
  • New List management. A new area in your settings to manage your lists and the people in them, see pending invitations, and leave a list you no longer need.
  • Improved Quicker due dates. You can now type a weekday on its own, like "Monday", "Mon" or "Mo", to set a task due next week. The "next" prefix is no longer required.
  • Improved Bigger, easier-to-tap checkboxes in the task list.
  • Fix Long words and links in task titles now wrap neatly instead of running out of the list.

Push notifications & offline mode

  • New Push notifications. Receive a quiet reminder on your device when a task is due. You can turn them on in your profile settings.
  • New Offline mode. Elephouse now works even when you're offline. You can view your task list without any interruption when you lose your connection.
  • Improved Automatic reordering. When you change a task's due date, the list now reorders itself instantly and smoothly scrolls the task back into view.
  • Improved Better readability for tasks and forms. We increased text and hashtag sizes in the task list, simplified item layouts, and updated borders to be slightly thicker and clearer. Forms and search inputs also received improved shadows.
  • Fix Task reminders are now sent reliably even if the task has no timezone set, and they arrive exactly when they should in your local time.
  • Fix Push notifications now reliably open your task list when clicked, and the background service loads correctly in production.
  • Under the hood Security and stability improvements, and update to Ruby 4.0.5.

Recurring tasks & calendar feed

  • New Recurring tasks. Tasks that repeat daily, weekly or monthly can now be created once. Elephouse takes care of the rest.
  • New Calendar feed (ICS). Tasks with a due date can now be subscribed to in Apple Calendar, Google Calendar or any other calendar app.
  • New What's new. An open page where we write down briefly and honestly what has changed in Elephouse.
  • Improved Complete visual redesign: calmer colors, better readability, clearer structure.
  • Improved Switched to Atkinson Hyperlegible. A typeface designed specifically for readability — characters are easier to tell apart, especially helpful for low-vision readers. Used for body text and headlines now.
  • Improved New icons throughout the app. Less loud, clearer in meaning.
  • Improved Calmer badges. Status labels like "Live", "Building" or "Planned" no longer SHOUT in uppercase.
  • Improved Changelog now available in English too.
  • Fix On mobile, the list jumps back to the top cleanly again when searching.
  • Fix Due times are displayed correctly everywhere again.
  • Fix Font files corrected: Atkinson Hyperlegible now loads reliably in all browsers.
  • Under the hood Security and stability improvements, faster error reporting, update to Ruby 4.0.3.

A calmer look

  • Improved A completely new design system. We said goodbye to Tailwind and built our own, much calmer design system. You'll notice it most in the typography, spacing and colors. It feels more orderly.
  • Improved Better keyboard and screen reader support in the task list.
  • New You can now export your data in the settings.
  • New Overview of all active sessions in the settings. You can see everywhere you're logged in.

Search, find, edit directly

  • New Search and create instantly. The multi-purpose input searches your tasks. And when nothing matches, a single key turns it into a new task.
  • New Inline editing. You can now edit tasks directly in the list, without opening them.
  • Improved Faster lists thanks to improved caching. Especially if you have many tasks.
  • Improved New prices and tidied-up language versions.

Settings, themes & finer details

  • New Settings area. Profile, sessions, language and timezone.
  • Improved Less wobble on mobile when the keyboard appears. Dynamic height for a calmer feel.
  • Improved Search moves to the bottom on mobile. Right where your thumb can reach it.
  • Removed "On Deck": a second tier for tasks coming up next.

    Removed again. A single list with "Today" at the top ended up feeling calmer and clearer.

  • Improved New theme colors and icons, tuned for both light and dark mode.
October 2025

New sign-in, new foundations

  • Improved Completely new sign-in. Fast login, password reset and confirmation emails that actually arrive.
  • Improved Multiple active sessions per account. You can stay signed in on several devices at once.
  • Fix Security fix: other users' tasks are no longer accidentally visible while editing.
  • Fix Nicer error pages instead of the bare default messages.
  • Under the hood Update to Rails 8.1 and Ruby 3.4.7. The foundation for everything to come.
Summer 2025

Quiet maintenance

  • Removed Real-time across multiple tabs.

    Removed again. The complexity behind it didn't fit the promise that Elephouse stays simple. A quick reload does the job too.

  • Improved Calmer list: after creating a task, the input field is cleared and focus stays where it makes sense.
  • Under the hood Many small improvements to speed and maintenance. Mostly invisible, but noticeable.
March – April 2025

Tidying up in the background

  • Under the hood New internal notification system. Helps us catch errors and important events faster. You won't notice anything, but we react faster when something gets stuck.
  • Fix Due dates are now cached correctly.
February 2025

Faster, lighter, freer

  • Improved Noticeably faster task lists. We added per-user caching. You'll notice the difference most when you have many tasks.
  • Removed Timezone storage for due dates.

    The feature still exists in the background but isn't currently being used. If it turns out to be useful in the future, we'll bring it back.

  • Improved Subscription system removed. Elephouse is completely free during the beta.
January 2025

Multilingual & finely tuned

  • Removed Language and timezone selection right at sign-up.

    Now simplified: Elephouse automatically uses the language your browser sends. One less question at sign-up.

  • New Language switcher in the footer for guests.
  • Improved Bigger, clearer buttons in the landing page hero.
  • New First testimonials from users on the landing page.

Becoming more coherent

  • Improved Faster creation. Tasks are now created with Stimulus. Smoother and without page reloads.
  • New Confirmation dialog when changing plans. No more surprises.
  • Improved Clearer URLs for each language for better discoverability and less confusion.

30-day trial & finer search

  • Removed 30-day free trial.

    Removed again. Since then, Elephouse has been completely free for everyone during the beta.

  • New Annual plan with savings compared to the monthly subscription.
  • Removed Toggle between monthly and yearly view on the pricing page.

    No longer needed since the paid model was dropped in March 2025.

  • New Search by hashtags like #work or #personal to quickly find the right tasks.
September 2024

Multilingual & legally clean

  • New Complete English version. Elephouse detects your browser language automatically.
  • New Privacy policy, terms of service, cookie policy, imprint. All complete in German and English.
  • New Nicer error pages instead of plain default messages.

The beginning

  • New Elephouse goes live. Tasks with due dates, hashtags, search and a single input field that understands everything.
  • New Sign-up, profile, languages. The basics are in place.
  • New Keyboard shortcut Ctrl + K to jump straight to the input field. Esc clears it again.
